My first research was a dissertation concerning the modernisation of Swedish Sami society during the early decades of the Twentieth Century. It was conducted as a media study of ‘Sami Folket’ and was assisted by Professor Håkan Rydving at Uppsala University.
My field of research is European History, critical theory and analysis of the social impact of the French Revolution abroad. It especially focused on the emigres from France and their reception in Britain culminating in four years of research on the political culture of the emigres in Britain in the 18th century at the Centre for Eighteenth Century Studies at the University of York,. My MA thesis ‘Capets in the English Imagination 1792-1793’ is a cultural study of redefinition of British nationalism in direct response to the French Revolution.
During this period I presented a conference paper, ‘A Fearless Resting Place’, at the Centre for Eighteenth Century Studies, York, as well as participating in the conference ‘Les Emigres en Europe’ at the Institut Francais, London.
